The problem with a Marshall Plan for the American economy is that the government can't afford it. We're 37 trillion dollars in debt. You might say 'how can we afford not to?' Well the risk is too great. We're seeing things happen with the bond market and the dollar that are scary. When someone like Ray Dalio is sounding alarm bells, you should take notice. We need to revitalize manufacturing in ways that don't require massive government subsidies. Perhaps tariffs and deregulation are the better option.
